SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
-First Reading: Acts 8:5-8, 14-17 Philip preaches in Samaria with signs and healing. Apostles send Peter and John; they lay hands so Samaritans receive the Holy Spirit.
-Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 66:1-3, 4-5, 6-7, 16, 20. Let all the earth cry out to God with joy or Alleluia; Shout joy to God, see his deeds. He turned the sea to dry land. Blessed be God who heard my prayer.
-Second Reading: 1 Peter 3:15-18 Always be ready to explain your hope, with gentleness and respect. It’s better to suffer for doing good, as Christ did.
-Gospel Acclamation: John 14:23; Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him.
-Gospel: John 14:15-21 Jesus: “If you love me, keep my commandments. I will ask the Father and he will give you another Advocate, the Spirit of truth... I will not leave you orphans.
-”Key theme: The Holy Spirit empowers the Church to spread joy and hope. Love Christ by keeping his commandments — he sends the Spirit to remain with us.
