Scripture Readings

-   First Reading: Genesis 2:7-9; 3:1-7 - The creation and fall of man - Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 51:3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 17 - A prayer for mercy 

- Second Reading: Romans 5:12-19 or 5:12, 17-19 - Through Jesus' obedience, many will be made righteous 

Gospel: Matthew 4:1-11 - Jesus is tempted by the devil in the desert 

These readings focus on temptation, obedience, and God's mercy. Jesus' 40-day fast in the desert and His resistance to temptation serve as a model for our Lenten journey.
