Moses Kiboneka alias Uncle Mo has disclosed that his mother was against his choice of becoming a digital comic character after he started uploading his content on media streaming site YouTube.

And because he is a telecom engineer by training, his mother was concerned that he had chosen to pursue an ‘unserious’ career path.

“My mother was not behind me doing this stuff. When she saw me doing comedy, she went to a pastor to pray for me. But later she started coming on board,” Uncle Mo said on a podcast hosted by Swangz Avenue’s Benon Mugumbya and Steve Keys.

He said his mother later became so accepting of his career choice that she reminded him of a time his teacher told her that he helped with a play in their class.

Uncle Mo disclosed that he has a bachelor’s degree in telecom engineering from Kyambogo University, another degree in mathematics, economics and statistics from Makerere University, plus a diploma in power and automotives.

“I studied many things that I don’t practise now. I did most of the things because I could. I have a degree in telecom engineering from Kyambogo. I have training in power and automotive; that is where the mechanic comes from. People ask if I studied mechanical engineering, but it is a whole different field. It is basically machines like for people in manufacturing,” revealed Uncle Mo.  

He started sharing his content on YouTube in June 2020 and currently has 48,700 subscribers on his channel with over three million views.
