KAMPALA - The Ebonies have quite an interesting challenge. For a while, they have been giving their actors a platform to showcase themselves solely.

At Theatre La Bonita over the weekend, it was Kauthara Mutesi’s turn. Typical of “arrivalism,” she titled the show “Chronicles of Mutesi”. A chronicle' show often comes after years of experience. This came way too early.

However, that is as far as bragging went. The show was a calm one. It turned out to be a charity show, with proceeds going to the Good Samaritan Sisters/Bakateyamba in Nalukolongo.

At exactly 9:30, Mutesi stepped onto the stage with a fascinating performance with her crew.

Although she did not have original compositions, she relied on mimicry to get the audience going. Mumtesi is also a dancer, so it helped when she put up a routine with her crew.

She dedicated “Mama” to her mother, a show she introduced to the audience.

“Some people can’t fundraise towards charity, but when you tell them that there is entertainment, they come. So getting money from the youth by putting on a charity show was the only way I would tell them about the needy,” she said during the show.

Jovan Luzinda, Chris Banina and Clevers Origon Junior School also performed.

Hon Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs noted that there are very many vulnerable people, and thanked Mutesi for her contribution towards alleviating them from their plight.

“She is so determined and I have enjoyed the performances. When I saw the sisters from Sisters from Good Samaritan/Bakateyamba in Nalukolongo I agreed that hat she is on the right cause,” he said. “ We are going to work together because she has a giving heart,” he added.

Speaking to Mutesi in an interview, she said that the amount raised at Theater Labonita in the Chronicles of Mutesi a charity show will be disclosed in November when handing it over to the Good Samaritan/Bakayeyamba in Nalukolongo because they are still having more charity shows.
