Police on Thursday (October 2) confirmed embattled musician Patrick Mulwana, better known as Alien Skin, has been released on police bond in a case related to murder.
“He recorded a statement on Wednesday. Since he handed himself over, he was given a police bond. They said since we didn’t look for him, he can go and come back,” said Onyango Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango.
Asked whether the file had been sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for perusal, Onyango said: “I think there is some few [sic] technical forensic report they are waiting for.”
Onyango said Alien Skin will keep on reporting at Katwe Police Station.
On Wednesday, Onyango confirmed the arrest of the musician in connection with the death of Wilfred Namuwaya, alias Top Dancer, adding that he was at Katwe Police Station, where his statement was recorded.
Onyango said the hunt for the other suspects who were allegedly involved was ongoing.
Namuwaya, a former associate of Alien Skin's Fangone Forest Group, succumbed to injuries at Mulago National Referral Hospital on September 22.
The day after his death, Kampala Police spokesperson Onyango said Namuwaya had been allegedly abducted from his residence in the Kampala city suburb of Ndeeba on September 20 by a man identified as Musomali, said to be linked to Fangone Forest.
He was reportedly taken to an unverified location, brutally assaulted and later abandoned in Mpomba Zone, Makindye division.
Good Samaritans rushed him to Mulago Hospital, where he died two days later.
“We are investigating the murder of Top Dancer. The prime suspect is Alien Skin, together with his associates, identified as Commander Mdogo, Ibra Kabadiya, and Mijagulo. Efforts are underway to have them arrested and prosecuted,” said Onyango.
