Museveni mourns Joyce Mpanga, to be accorded a three-gun salute

Mpanga died last Saturday at Kampala Hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Former Minister of Education and promoter of girl child education, Joyce Mpanga will be accorded a three-gun salute.

This is contained in President Yoweri Museveni's speech read for him by the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Joyce Sebugwawo.

Sebugwawo added that to ensure that all the above are fulfilled, a committee, chaired by the minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda will oversee all the government commitments.

She made the revelation on Wednesday during prayers for the deceased, at Namirembe Cathedral. The President hailed Mrs. Mpanga for his contribution to the public service sector, and the country through different activities she was engaged in.

David Mpanga, the son of the late, said that prayers preceding burial will start at 11:00 at her ancestral home in Maya and burial at 2:00pm on Thursday.

Mpanga died last Saturday at Kampala Hospital after complaining of chest pains.  

The political class included former trade minister Amelia Kyambade, Brig Henry Tumukunde,area members of parliament like Allan Sewanyana, Dr Kiiza Besigye among others.

Others were  the Lord Mayor Elias Lukwaga and his deputy Doreen Nyanjura,although these walked out of church as soon as Sebugwawo walked to the podium to read the President’s speech.
