Last evening, in the relatively quiet neighbourhood of Kulambiro in Kampala, was the premeire of Loving Beyond, a Multichoice drama.

The venue, one of the show’s filming locations, added authenticity to the experience, making guests feel like they had stepped directly into the storyline.

The crowd was a refreshing blend of both seasoned actors and fresh faces. They were treated to an exclusive first screening, followed by cast and crew interactions, giving the night a celebratory and personal feel.

Loving Beyond is a gripping Ugandan drama series set in Kampala, built around a long-standing feud between two powerful families; the Lutaayas and the Lules. Both control massive empires within Uganda’s sugar industry Pearl Sugar and Nile Sugar. Their rivalry, fueled by a decades-old land conflict involving over 500,000 acres of sugarcane plantations, sets the stage for betrayal, power struggles, and generational resentment.

But at the center of this storm sits a forbidden love story. Two young hearts caught between loyalty and longing challenge whether love can truly rise above legacy, hatred, and deeply buried wounds. Call it just a rip-off of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

For Executive Producer Jerry Sesanga Jerry, “it is a story about power, legacy, and the unexpected ways love disrupts rivalry. Seeing this project grow from an idea to a 260-episode production has been a rewarding journey.”

Sesanga, whose portfolio includes The Run, The Baby Bride, The African Dream, and Mom vs Wife, shared that Loving Beyond stands as his biggest and boldest project yet. Filming began in May.

Naava Grey graced the night with a performance perfectly fitting, as her music is also part of the series soundtrack.
