My given name is Jovan Ssebaggala. The inspiration for the stage name 'Kajambiya' comes from Hebrews 4:12, which reads, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." It was from this scripture that I chose to translate 'sword' as 'Kajambiya,' infusing a bit of humour and catchiness into the name.

Reflecting on your journey as a gospel artiste, what ignited your passion for music ministry?
Actually, I wouldn't label it as a career; it's more of a divine calling. Ever since I was a child, I've been captivated by music, and dancing to its rhythm was second nature to me. At just 13, I unearthed my musical talent and began crafting melodies that I eagerly presented at school talent showcases. As time passed, I realised that God had entrusted me with this gift to uplift spirits and magnify His name.

Oh, the highs! They're like soul symphonies echoing through my life — stories of transformed lives, hearts stirred to redemption by the notes I strum. And challenges? Well, they're like those unexpected key changes that keep me on my toes. But you know, I've trained myself to dance more to the upbeat tempo of positivity than get bogged down by the occasional minor chord.

It's evident your music carries a powerful message. Who are some of the artistes that have helped shape your unique style and lyrical narrative?
Absolutely! Before I found my faith, Jamaican ragga and dancehall rhythms were my anthem. But after encountering the Divine Maestro at 16, it was artistes like Seku Martin and Papa San who tuned my heart to a new frequency.

I am a professional software engineer and at one point I was amidst the chaos of postgraduate studies, a demanding job, and the music that keeps my soul dancing, somehow, it all harmonised. As the good book the Bible says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
