Vision Group’s Toto Christmas Festival is fast approaching, and so, its activations are also in high gear.
The Toto team, whose lead is the editor of the children’s Toto magazine, Grace Nampiima, graced Kyambogo Primary School on Tuesday, November 25, to tell them about the festival.
The deputy head teacher, Francis Kiwubeyi, who assembled the children, said the school is unique.
“It is inclusive because we also have children with special needs, who are supported by instructors during class,” he explained, adding, “So, if you find a child who is acting a little odd, do not be afraid. They are all one of us.”
Primrose Nabukeera, an instructor at the school, explained the complexity of her duties.
“During class, the teacher can teach as I support, depending on their impairment. For some, I help them settle down because they can easily get distracted. During exams, we read for them because they don’t write much. We write for them, but they give us the answers.
“We teach them [good] behaviour, mobility and socialising—talking, as some can hardly pronounce the words,” she said.
After handing out the festival flyers, Nampiima said: “Take the flyers to your parents so that they pay for you to attend the festival. Ask your parents to have some money so that they can buy for you nice things to eat like ice cream, cotton candy, chips and chicken.”
She added: “The festival is a time for family fun.”
Sponsored by Pepsi, Toyota Uganda, Ruparelia Group and Indomie Instant Noodles, the festival will take place on December 07, at Kampala Parents School Playground at sh 10,000 for children and free entry for adults.
Indomie Instant Noodles, for instance, has been moving around schools with the Toto team, giving children noodles and will also be present at the festival.
Toyota Uganda has given the little ones a chance to participate in the global competition, where the winner gets $ 5000 (about sh 18m), the runners-up get $ 3000 (sh 10.8m), and their schools will win $ 10, 000 (approximately sh 36m).
Pepsi will also be at the festival to provide children with their favourite soft drinks and its varieties (Mirinda Apple, Fruity and Apple, Mountain Dew and 7Up).
The Ruparelia Group has also generously provided a safe space for the festival at Kampala Parents School Playground, complete with a swimming pool.
