Koffi Olomide jets in ahead of Afrigo Band's 50th anniversary

Congolese soukous star Antoine Christophe Mumba, commonly known as Koffi Olomide, jetted into the country via Entebbe International Airport, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, August 13, welcomed by Afrigo Band's leader Moses Matovu and members of the press.

 

Olomide is in the country for Afrigo Band's 50th anniversary concert, slated for August 16, at Millennium Grounds, Kampala. 

 

Koffi Olomide, renowned for his captivating stage presence and timeless hits, will perform alongside Uganda’s highly- rated Afrigo Band in a live music collaboration that promises to thrill fans with a fusion of Congolese soukous and Afrigo's unique sound. The Legends of Sound – Afrigo at 50 concert will be a grand celebration of Afrigo Band’s five decades. 

 

The Congolese superstar is a pioneer of the Tcha Tcho style of soukous, blending traditional African rhythms with modern sounds. With a career spanning over four decades, he has released more than 30 albums, won numerous international awards including multiple Kora Awards, and performed on some of the world’s biggest stages. 

 

Known for his charismatic performances, poetic lyrics and unmatched showmanship, Koffi remains a global ambassador of African music.
