Kasana-Luweero Diocese lifts Uganda Martyrs soccer trophy

The tournament, the first one of its kind, was organised by the Catholic Church as one of the activities to commemorate the diamond jubilee (60th anniversary) of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs.

Kasana-Luweero Diocese are the undisputed champions of the Kampala Ecclesiastical Province Youth Soccer Tournament.
The tournament, the first one of its kind, was organised by the Catholic Church as one of the activities to commemorate the diamond jubilee (60th anniversary) of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs.
The Kasana-Luweero youth were declared champions after prevailing over their colleagues of Lugazi diocese with a 1-0 goal-win.

They received their trophy from the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja who presided over the event’s closing ceremony at YES Sports Arena, Nsambya (in Makindye Division) on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
Others who received trophies include the netball team of Kampala Catholic Archdiocese which defeated Masaka diocese. Lugazi diocese won the volleyball trophy.

The Catholic priests' soccer team and the Kampala Archdiocese soccer queens which played the curtain-raiser game also received special appreciation.
