Come February 2026, Kampala will take on a new role, not as a mere host city, but as the birthplace of a continental conversation about the future of money, technology, and education.

For three days, the capital will welcome innovators, educators, and dreamers for the launch of the Africa FX Curriculum Co-Development Tour 2026, an initiative by the Global Fintech & Trading Excellence Network (GFTEN) that promises to redefine how Africans learn about and lead in the world of fintech and foreign exchange.

Under the theme “Co-Creating Africa’s Future in Forex and Fintech Education,” the event will explore one big question: how can Africa build a generation that not only understands digital finance but drives it?

“The fintech revolution must start where transformation is most sustainable — in our classrooms,” says Okiria Levictus, GFTEN’s Regional Coordinator.

“The Africa FX Curriculum Tour is where policy meets practice, and education meets innovation.”

Beyond the buzzwords, the initiative is a rare blend of academia and industry. It’s not about one-off workshops or lofty declarations, it’s about building a curriculum, forging partnerships, and designing real frameworks that will equip students with the skills to thrive in an increasingly digital financial world.

After Kampala, the tour will make its way across West Africa (Nigeria) and Southern Africa (South Africa) before culminating in the release of the Africa FX Education Framework Report, a document expected to set new standards for aligning financial education and innovation across the continent.

Backed by fintech associations, regulators, and academic institutions, the project signals a quiet but powerful shift: Africa’s future in finance will not be imported, it will be co-created by its own thinkers, builders, and educators.

For Uganda, the significance goes beyond being first on the itinerary. It’s an affirmation of the country’s growing role as a hub for financial and tech learning, a place where curiosity meets creativity, and where the digital future feels within reach.

Registration for partner institutions and educators is already open on the GFTEN website, and by the time February arrives, Kampala will be ready,  not just to host a conference, but to help write the next chapter in Africa’s fintech story.
