Award-winning television series Junior Drama Club (JDC) has unveiled a star-studded lineup for its highly-anticipated second season, scheduled for release on January 4, 2024.
The impressive list comprises comedian Anne Kansiime, actor Michael Wawuyo Jr, former Miss Uganda Stella Nantumbwe, singer Rachel Kiwanuka (Rachel K) and former Blu*3 member Edith Baganda Namuleme (Mya).
Nisha Kalema, one of the series' producers, shared with New Vision that these additions aim to elevate the show's appeal to a broader audience. She expressed optimism that the collective charisma and talent of these figures would make the series a cinematic dream for every Ugandan.
"These are exceptional talents with vast experience and substantial followings. I am confident they will infuse a blend of comedy, music, and inspiration, particularly with the influence of beauty queen Stella," Kalema remarked.
However, it was revealed that Nantumbwe is stepping in to replace actress and model Natasha Sinayobye, who is departing from the series to pursue other goals.
Addressing her involvement in the project, Nantumbwe expressed her excitement through social media, referring to the opportunity as an honour.
She assured her fans that she is committed to delivering her best.
The series already boasts an impressive lineup, including Bruno Kiggundu (Bruno K), Eddy Kenzo, Gaetano Kaggwa, Malaika Nyanzi, and several other notable names.
Its first season was launched in January 2023 and managed to win Best Actress In TV Series which went to TV presenter Diana Nabatanzi and Best TV Series at the Uganda Film Festival (UFF) in 2023.
