Pastor Martin Ssempa of Makerere Community Church has called upon Ugandans on social media to attend the Harvest Money Expo.

The expo, which is on its second day today, is at Kololo Independence Grounds.

The biggest agricultural expo in Uganda, under the theme Farming as a Business, will end on Sunday. Entrance is sh10,000, and another sh10,000 to attend different trainings.

For 30 years, Pastor Ssempa and his wife Tracy have been mentoring young people and have observed that people who study get degrees, but end up on the street for lack of jobs.

“We have many graduates every year, but have no jobs, yet agriculture offers an opportunity for people to make and harvest money. We have come up with an innovation centre known as the Sibula Innovation Centre located in Kasanjje, and we have decided to partner with Vision Group to preach the agriculture gospel,” Ssempa said.

Sibula is about skilling people to join and find work on the value chain of agriculture, mixing it with tourism, and processing coffee.

“We want to bring people for three months and get to bring technology to them. We want to preach harvest money to them. At the farm, we have matooke, 6 acres of coffee, pineapple, and cattle".

“I am inviting all my friends, like Kasuku, all bloggers, and all my fans on TikTok; there is time for tiktoking and there is time to harvest money. This is where I want you to come so that we can be able to monetise agriculture; this is where the latest technology and funding are. It can be a place for advancing to another level,” Ssempa added.

Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, Don Wanyama, welcomed Ssempa and thanked him for seeing value in the Harvest Money Expo. “As Vision Group, we want to change the perception that farming is for old people. Young people can also get value from agriculture, and that is what we are stressing during this expo; we even have sessions for the youth,” Wanyama said.
