Mayinja, known for his songs raising awareness about social issues, was on the receiving end of back lash when he kept oscillitating between the opposition National Unity Platform and the ruling National Resistance Movement in the run-up to the 2021 general election.

It was full house at the Kampala Serena Hotel's Victoria Hall on March 8 during musician Ronald Mayinja's Old is Gold concert.

The venue was filled to capacity that at some point, the gates were closed, which came as a shocker to the Tuliku Bunkenke singer.

Some of the prominent people who attended were Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Minister Haruna Kasolo and Mayinja's fellow artistes such as Alien Skin and Bebe Cool.

While returning to perform on the stage for the third time, Mayinja, midway a song,  appreciated the guests.

"Thanks, my people, for coming to support me. I reached a point where I had left music, thinking I no longer had support from my fans, but I have realised that I still have support. I promise to resume making music again, after what you have showed me today," he said.
