On Sunday, February 11, the Xpressions Melody & Metaphor Special, an event that seeks to elevate young Ugandan musicians, took place at Icon Lounge, Forest Mall, Lugogo. 

The event began at around 4:00pm with games such as Jenga and beer pong. Later a humble crowd gathered. 

The performers of the night were Kevin Mawejje, Mal X and Tai Dai who gave live performances for their music along with the Double Black Band. 

 Mawejje was the first performer of the evening, singing songs like NGFM and Teenage Love that both feature Likkle Bangi and Patience that features GrG, just to mention but a few. 

He also shared a brief background story of how he started out with a group called The Four Homies with artistes such as Mootownoh and Pappa T who he is still in touch with as much as they are all solo artistes at the moment. 

Mal X was the next act of the night, bringing a mellow gospel vibe to the event, with songs such as Dreams, Slavery featuring Suspekt92, and Finally Found. 

The singer did secular music since early 2016, but eventually found the Lord and has become a full-time gospel artiste. 

The third act of the night was rapper Tai Dai, who said she had been approached by Xpressions back in 2020, but declined due to reasons she didn't disclose. 

The biggest song of the night that Tai Dai performed was a single titled Thursday featuring SoundlyKBB and Kaboo. It got the crowd singing along. They asked for it to be re-performed even after there was a blackout.

Revellers stayed in their seats until the power came back on, just to get a little more of the hot single.
