The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has ordered the immediate suspension of the song Mukube Paver by Dynaso Wegoso, citing concerns over its content and potential impact on public safety.
In a directive issued on April 7, 2026, the communications regulator instructed all broadcasters, internet service providers, and social media platforms to halt the airing, distribution, and promotion of the song with immediate effect.
According to UCC, the decision follows a surge of public complaints accusing the track of promoting violence and fueling dangerous imitation trends among young people, particularly on platforms such as TikTok.
The directive, signed by UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo, states that the song has been formally classified as prohibited content under Regulations 45 and 46 of the Uganda Communications (Content) Regulations, 2019.
“The song explicitly and implicitly promotes, incites and glorifies violence and aggressive conduct,” the Commission said in part, warning that continued circulation of the content poses a risk to public safety.
UCC further reminded media houses and digital users that compliance is mandatory, noting that any individual or organization found broadcasting or promoting the banned song could face legal penalties. These include a fine of up to 48 currency points, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
In addition to the suspension, Dynaso Wegoso has been summoned to appear before the Commission on April 16, 2026, at 10:00a.m. The meeting is expected to address concerns raised in the regulator’s preliminary findings and explore possible corrective measures to prevent further enforcement action.
The ban marks one of the latest actions by the regulator to rein in on content that crosses into what officials describe as dangerous or irresponsible, particularly in an era where online trends can quickly translate into real behavior.
