Hundreds of mourners have gathered at St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe in Kampala to pay their last respects to the former minister and promoter of girlchild education, Joyce Mpanga.

Mpanga died on Saturday, November 18. 

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, and Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalilira are leading the service.  

The late will be remembered for championing girlchild education, women empowerment and her fight against corruption, among other activities.

The funeral service which started at 2:30pm is attended by Nabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda, Prince David Wassaja, Inspector General of Government Beti Olive Kamya, Mama Miria Kalule Obote, Brigadier Henry Tumukunde, former agriculture Minister Prof Victoria Sekitoleko and officials from Mengo, among others.
