In a refreshing blend of corporate responsibility and community empowerment, Exim Bank Uganda and Roofings Group have teamed up to bring environmental sustainability to life—literally.

Their latest initiative is not just about planting trees; it’s about planting hope, health, and harmony across Uganda.

At the heart of this collaboration is a simple yet powerful gesture: the distribution of 700 fruit trees—mango, avocado, and jackfruit to Exim Bank customers nationwide. These trees aren’t just gifts; they’re symbols of a shared commitment to climate action, food security, and environmental stewardship.

Anthony Mariiro, Acting Deputy CEO of Exim Bank, believes sustainability starts with everyday choices.

“Environmental sustainability is not just a corporate responsibility, it’s a shared duty,” he said during the launch event at Exim Bank headquarters in Kampala. “We hope to inspire long-term community engagement while offering tangible benefits like fruit production and soil conservation.”

Whether planted in a backyard, school compound, or community garden, each tree becomes a living legacy, one that nourishes the soil, feeds families, and contributes to a greener Uganda.

Roofings Group’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Stuart Jason Mwesigwa, echoed the sentiment. “By empowering our customers to plant and nurture fruit trees, we not only offset carbon emissions but also enhance livelihoods and food security,” he said.

This partnership is a shining example of how businesses can go beyond profit margins to make a lasting impact. It aligns with Uganda’s national climate goals and global commitments under the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 15 (Life on Land).

In a world where climate headlines often feel overwhelming, initiatives like this remind us that change can start with a single seed. For Exim Bank customers, receiving a fruit tree is more than a transaction, it’s an invitation to be part of something bigger.

So, the next time you bite into a homegrown mango or watch your avocado tree flourish, remember: you’re not just enjoying nature—you’re nurturing it.
