'French culture to grow through producing new podcasts, more language lessons'

Graced by the Ambassador of France in Uganda Xavier Sticker, a host of members of the French community in Uganda, and over 30 trainers’ teachers, the evening was laced with sumptuous meals that had guests immerse in their culture through culinary delights.

KAMPALA - At the fun-filled cocktail session held at Alliance Francaise Kampala (AFK) on Thursday (May 16, 2024) evening, it was revealed that the organisation is set to produce podcasts and video capsules documenting the culture and profile of the French community in Uganda.

The evening which started at 6:00pm and organised by AFK was marking the French government’s approval of the project submitted by the Embassy of France in Uganda that centres on improving the teaching of French at secondary school level throughout Uganda and supporting innovative and harmonized French teaching methods.

Graced by the Ambassador of France in Uganda Xavier Sticker, a host of members of the French community in Uganda, and over 30 trainers’ teachers, the evening was laced with sumptuous meals that had guests immerse in their culture through culinary delights.

The two-year program will be conducted by AFK will cost 288,450 euros and will have, among other things, organize French language activities in over 15 partner schools.

At the event, Sticker said, “This is one of our projects to strengthen the solid relationship between France and Uganda share. I trust the AFK to conduct this program very well and strengthen teachers through training 30 training teachers in the selected region.”

AFK Director Eric Touze said, “We are to create audiovisual teaching resources adapted to the contexts, French teachers and learners in Uganda. This program will organize Francophile fun camps for secondary school pupils in five geographical areas of Uganda in West Nile, North, Central, West, and East.”

The fun-filled evening was done by 8:00pm.
