Succeeding academically can pose challenges for performers, especially those who attain stardom at a young age and accumulate significant wealth. Often, they adopt a mindset of "having it all" and may dismiss the importance of education.
This rings true for singer Abdul Aziz Musigazi, also known as Vyroota, whose formal education ended with Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), commonly known as Senior Four. Despite calls for him to pursue further studies, Vyroota, speaking on a local TV show, expressed his belief that prioritising his burgeoning career over academics is paramount.
"I am uncertain about returning to school. At this moment, I consider myself a star. Sacrificing my career for education could impede my progress," he remarked.
His stance drew attention from Dr. Kulthum Nabunya, who urged him to reconsider, emphasising the importance of balancing career success with academic achievement. She even offered to assist Vyroota with a school bursary.
"In S4, I had everything, but my life was going to end the day my husband died. Being a young boy, you still have a sharp brain. High school is just two years. I can even get you a bursary va mu kyejjo," Nabunya said.
Nabunya's plea comes in the same kind following her previous support for Pretty Nicole, a young girl who garnered social media attention after being assaulted. With this opportunity on the table, Vyroota faces a pivotal decision that could shape his future trajectory
