Common Toyota Wish problems

Toyota wish is one of the darling vehicles in Uganda because of its space for people as well as for luggage. IT can be classified as an MPV, a multi-purpose vehicle due to its flexibility in being able to accommodate stuff.

In fact, if you have a Toyota Wish, you may not need a pick-up when you are shifting your stuff into another house.

However, if the vehicle is not classified as an MPV in the logbook, the traffic police can give you a charge sheet for using the car inappropriately since sometimes the purpose of the car is not followed.

However, if you meet a traffic officer who is lenient, they will allow you to go with your stuff.

The Wish has affordable maintenance in terms of parts and technology, however, it has common problems that owners have experienced, especially those who have had it for more than three years.

The first common problem has to do with a rattling engine that even triggers the oil lamp to illuminate.

Most mechanics go for changing the oil filter as well as the oil pump and the problem still persists.

The Wish has a way it collects dirt in the oil sump,  I’m not sure where this dirt comes from and with time the dirt clogs the primary strainer filter and lowers down the volume of oil going to the oil pump. This causes the engine to be rattily and with no attention given, this will damage the engine crankshaft bearings because the bearings would be receiving restricted oil levels.

What must be done first is to remove the oil sump and clean the strainer filter and this will sort out the problem completely without the need of buying any spare parts.

The main things that the owner of the car will buy are the oil filter and new oil. 

After cleaning the strainer, it is recommended that the system is replaced with new oil filter and new oil.

The second problem has to do with a banging noise under the vehicle.

I have discovered that the Toyota Wish is a very sensitive vehicle when it comes to spare [parts, especially the stabiliser bar bushes. 

Not every stabiliser bar bushes will work on a Wish. One must replace with specific specialised bushes if not the car will bang until you replace everything in the steering and suspension system to no success and yet what the car simply needs is specialised stabiliser bar bushes.
