Chinese Spring Festival kicks off

As the Chinese 2026 Year of the Horse approaches, CRJE (East Africa) Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Engineering Group Co Ltd, hosted a vibrant Chinese cultural experience recently.
The event was part of the long running second Spring Festival Gala under the theme “Hearts United in Endeavor, Joyfully Celebrating the Spring Festival.”
The celebration aimed to promote traditional Chinese culture, enrich the cultural life of overseas staff, and strengthen unity in pursuit of shared success.
Set against the warm backdrop of equatorial Uganda, the occasion symbolized the enduring patriotism and determination of Chinese nationals working far from home. Organizers noted that distance cannot weaken the bonds of culture and heritage, nor diminish the collective drive toward excellence and achievement.
The venue, the NSSF Pension Tower on Kyagwe Road in Kampala, was beautifully adorned with red lanterns, Chinese knots, festive streamers and Spring Festival couplets. The character “Fu,” symbolizing good fortune, featured prominently, conveying blessings and hopes for prosperity in the New Year. The decorations created a joyful and harmonious atmosphere, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the Lunar New Year.
A major highlight of the event was the Chinese Cultural Experience Zone, thoughtfully designed around traditional festivals such as the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Double Ninth Festival. Guests explored interactive exhibitions including calligraphy, tea art, traditional handicrafts and folk customs.
In a speech delivered by Mr. Liu Qiang, representative of CRJE (East Africa) Ltd, it was emphasized that the celebration was not only a festive gathering but also a moment of reflection and renewed commitment.
The second Spring Festival Gala concluded in high spirits, with attendees expressing optimism as they welcomed the Lunar New Year together united in heart, steadfast in endeavor and confident in the journey ahead. The festival will end on March 03, 2026 with several other activities taking place in different places across the country.
