Music legend Jose Chameleone is set to travel to the US next week for specialized medical treatment.

The Leone Island boss will be accompanied by his brother, fellow musician Weasel Manizo, as he seeks care at Allina Health Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

The trip, expected to last at least a month, is being fully facilitated by renowned socialite Juliet Zawedde, who has stepped in to cover both the medical and caretaking expenses.

Juliet Zawedde, a prominent Ugandan businesswoman residing in Boston, Massachusetts, was granted special permission by carers and medical staff to visit singer Jose Chameleone at Nakasero Hospital on Monday, December 16. The two have maintained a strong friendship and successful business partnership for quite some time.

On Wednesday, December 18, a close associate of Zawedde confirmed the news of her funding Chameleone’s treatment.

This development comes amid growing concern over the singer’s health. Earlier this week, his eldest son, Abba Marcus, revealed that the iconic singer has been battling acute pancreatitis, a condition reportedly linked to excessive alcohol consumption. According to Marcus, doctors have warned Chameleone about the grave risks of not addressing his drinking habits, giving him a two-year window to make significant lifestyle changes.

The singer was recently admitted to Nakasero Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment before his doctors recommended advanced care abroad.

Chameleone’s health crisis has forced him to put his career on hold, with all Christmas and New Year performance bookings postponed as he focuses on recovery. Fans and well-wishers have expressed their support, urging the star to prioritize his well-being.

Known for hits like "Valu Valu" and "Mama Mia," Chameleone remains one of Uganda’s most influential artists.
