The camaraderie among the ladies was palpable, filled with laughter and lively conversations as they enjoyed a morning breakfast organized by the American Chamber of Commerce.
The event, held at Sheraton Hotel’s La Terrasse Garden Lounge, celebrated a belated Women’s Day in a vibrant atmosphere.
Adding excitement to the occasion, Brussels Airlines sponsored a raffle draw, awarding one lucky attendee a free ticket to Europe.
Despite the lighthearted mood, the discussions delved into pressing issues. Eve Zalwango, General Manager of AmCham, stressed the importance of investing in women entrepreneurs and workforce development to drive long-term industry growth. “We must encourage businesses to prioritize employee well-being through policies that foster work-life balance and mental resilience,” she urged.

The chief guest, Olive Birungi Lumonya, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, challenged young women to step out of their comfort zones and aspire to more demanding roles in their careers.
Xenia Wachira, Country Head of Brighter Monday Uganda, highlighted the evolving opportunities for women. “Men and women are equal,” she noted, “but what sets them apart are the unique skills each brings to the table.” Lagrima Klein Byamugisha, Development Manager at Great Lakes, added that self-doubt often holds women back. “Many fear advancement due to skill gaps, but with mentorship and opportunity, their potential is limitless.” She emphasized preparation as the key to success: “Luck favors those who are ready.”
