Singer turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s documentary titled Bobi Wine: The People’s President has been nominated in the Documentary Feature Film category at the 96th Academy Awards (Oscars).

Produced and directed by Moses Bwayo, Christopher Sharp and John Battsek, the two-hour documentary chronicles Bobi Wine’s deployment of music in his political manoeuvres. 

The other nominees in the category are; The Eternal Memory, Four Daughters, To Kill a Tiger, and 20 Days in Mariupol.

Winners are to be awarded on Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood. 

The documentary won the Audience Choice award at Cinema Eye Honors 2024 in New York this month. In 2023, it won International Competition Audience Prize, and Best Film on Human Rights at the Millennium Festival Awards. It also won the Best Feature Documentary prize in 2023 at the International Documentary Association (IDA) awards.
