On Sunday, Uganda’s iconic girl group, Blu 3, graced the stage on Tusker Malt Conversessions, delivering an emotionally charged episode that left fans eagerly anticipating their new music.
Lilian Mbabazi, Cindy Sanyu, and Jackie Chandiru opened up about their painful split, their journey to reconciliation, and the exciting promise of fresh tunes.
For years, fans speculated about the reasons behind Blu 3’s sudden breakup. Jackie revealed that her deepest hurt stemmed not from harsh words but from the lack of effort to keep the group together. “It was never about what was said. My issue was the disintegration. We didn’t fight to stay together. I expected us to take over the world,” she shared.
Cindy admitted to once believing rumors that the group was sabotaging her solo career. “I had a lot of anger, and I believed it. But after a few years, I realized, no, these girls are my sisters,” she confessed. Lilian was quick to set the record straight: “Just to be clear, we never had that plot.”
The trio credited their reunion tour for reigniting their bond, proving that while past wounds take time to heal, sisterhood endures. Fans now have something exciting to look forward to—new music! Lilian confirmed, “We’ve already been to the studio. Our single Guma is out, and we’re working on an EP.”
Reflecting on life after the breakup, Jackie admitted to feeling scared and jealous when Cindy left. “I was used to having backup on stage. I didn’t have people to talk to. On a scale of 1 to 100, I was 65% angry,” she revealed.
Cindy, however, harbors no regrets. “Everything that happened led us here. If I didn’t leave Blu 3, this part of me wouldn’t have come out,” she said. Lilian added a touch of wisdom, stating, “Even Lot’s wife looked back and turned into salt. We learn from consequences, not from dwelling on the past.”
