Bad ex-lover! I regret singing trending hit 'Good Lover (My Mwami)' for Sipapa - Brown Shugar

Indeed, there is a thin line between love and hate. Singer Brown Shugar is regreting her trending song, Good Lover (My Mwami), that she sang for businessman/music promoter Charles Olim aka Sipapa in 2016, when the two were deeply in love.

It boggles the mind that the song was unheard of back then, but six years later, after she bitterly fell out with him in 2018, it has now become a hit.

How Sipapa and Shugar met

Evelyn Ndagire, also known as Brown Shugar, was signed under Sipapa's Sipapa Entertainment record label, where they fell in love and started  living together.

Shugar released a lot of songs in which she heaped praise on Sipapa such as Hallo. In the song, she talked about the way they met and their love. In Omuwandise, she revealed the special feelings that she had for Sipapa, quoting the words he used to win her heart.

In 2018,  the two developed misunderstandings that eventually resulted into separation.

Shugar started dating Taata Sam, a comedian and they had twins. Sipapa introduced another woman and they also had two children together.

In a Bukedde Tv interview, Shugar expressed regret about the time she 'wasted' with Sipapa, saying he abused her.

“I sang Good Lover (My Mwami) in 2018. It was based on our love. I intended to inform Sipapa that I loved him so much, but now we are no longer together. We separated. I regret the day I met Sipapa. Promoters are bad people. They take advantage of talented ladies and use them sexually while promising them promotions and management. Sipapa asked me to leave Geoffrey Lutaaya and Irene Namatovu (The New Eagles) and get married to him. He promised me a lot of good things. I accepted since I had spent with him a lot of time," she said.

Shugar accused Sipapa of rape and leading her into depression. 

"I used to love my man so much. I thought I could not live without him. I got obsessed with him. I chucked all my friends and abandoned all my bad manners to make him happy,  in vain. He used to bring women at home in my presence. He used to beat me whenever I would go to visit my friends. He used to force me to have sex with him. I never enjoyed sex as a woman at home." she said.

Shugar recalled an incident once where Sipapa left her at home on Valentine's Day when she had prepared several gifts for him.

"That day,  he went to the bond to buy a car for another woman. It hurt me so much and it’s the reason I started revenging on him with other men," she said.

Sipapa is currently in Luzira Prison over sh1.6b theft allegations.  However, in July 13, 2020, he addressed the allegations made by Brown Shugar in an interview on Bukedde TVs’ show Vibe Mix.

“I was in love with Brown Shugar for eight months. We spent the rest of the two-and-a-half years as business partners. I separated with her because she used to cheat on me with different men in my house. She once conceived a baby for another man and aborted it. However, she later ran into financial problems and she requested for my help. I cleared the bill to zero balance," Sipapa said.

On allegations of her being depressed on his account, Sipapa instead accused Shugar of taking drugs.

"I took her to rehab where she was treated well and got back to normal life. She was married to another man in Entebbe. I could not stay with her due to her indiscipline. I know how to control myself in all kinds of situations.  I have never beaten Brown Shugar or forced her into sex. I think she is being used by my enemies to spoil my name. She used to abort whenever she would get pregnant and I decided to get another woman, who had no problem with giving birth . All the allegations raised by Brown Sugar against me are false," Sipapa responded then.
