The Archbishop of Gulu, John Baptist Odama, has called on Christians to use the Christmas period to renew their faith in Christ by repenting and reconciling with God.

Archbishop Odama made the remarks during a Christmas prayer at the St Joseph's Cathedral in Gulu city on Christmas Day.

John Baptist Odama during the Christmas prayers at the St. Joseph’s cathedral called upon Christiansto us this Christmas period to renew their faith.

He challenged parents to create peace love and harmony in their homes.

The Man of God emphasized that God sent His only son Jesus to renew our life.

“He came so that there is light, peace, love and harmony, therefore we must use this chance to renew our faith in God,” Archbishop Odama said.

Cattle rustling

The Archbishop Odama, the Roman Catholic priest appealed to the government to end cattle rustling in Acholi and other parts of Northern Uganda.

He prayed that it’s this Christmas festival period that should pave way for Christians to stop cattle rustling and all the violences associated to it.

“We pray that cattle rustling should stop so that the children of God should start staying in peace and harmony,” Odama said.

Land wrangles

Odama also expressed concern over the growing trend of land grabbing in Acholi region saying the vice can only stop if Christians begin to respect, love and value one another.

“We should keep our land and use it appropriately so that the Lord may be happy with us,” the archbishop said adding that “we should ask God to forgive all those who have been involved in land wrangles and we pray that God forgives them.”

Christian’s reactions

George Okidi, a Christian from For God Parish in Gulu city appreciated the sermon made by the archbishop John Baptist Odama, saying “His message is very right, and I encourage more religious leaders to do the same.”

Joyce Ayoo, another Christian said, “the archbishop made a wonderful remark and I think it is the right time and the right place for his message to the Christians.”
