American rapper, French Montana’s charity works have touched the hearts of many people, and his peers are showing gratitude for his good works.
French was honored at the 2022 Pencils of Promise Gala for helping raise more than $226 million towards healthcare in Africa. But most significantly, he funded the Budondo Suubi "Hope" Health Center, which is the primary source of healthcare for new mothers and their babies in an otherwise desolate region of Uganda.
French’s mission to start his humanitarian duties in Uganda kicked off when he came to Uganda to shoot his unforgettable video with the Ghetto Kids in 2017, after he witnessed the healthcare hardships that women were facing.
What began as a video shoot evolved into a worldwide healthcare campaign and a collaboration with Global Citizen and the nonprofit Mama Hope Foundation to expand the nation's Suubi "Hope" Maternity Center.
In fact, he claimed in an interview with Billboard that all proceeds from the sale of his French Vanilla Croc flavor went to the hospital. He gave $100,000, which was added to by another $100,000 each from R&B superstar The Weekend and rap icon P-Diddy.
For his efforts, the gala bestowed French with this year's Innovator Award.
