Renowned American evangelist Dana Morey has arrived in Uganda for a four-day crusade in Uganda's eastern city of Soroti, which will begin on Independence Day (Thursday) at Soroti Sports Grounds.

Known for his dynamic gospel missions across continents, Morey was received at Soroti Flying School by a delegation of Pentecostal leaders and local church representatives.

His visit marks a significant moment for Uganda’s Pentecostal community, particularly in the Teso sub-region, where anticipation over his arrival has been building for months.

Grateful for the warm welcome, Morey said his mission is to transform communities,  cities, and nations.”

“Everywhere we go, we see God change lives,” he said. “People with broken hearts are healed, those suffering from depression and fear are lifted, and most importantly, those who don’t know Jesus will find eternal life in Him."

The American preacher told reporters of the transformation in the cities he has visited.

“We see crime rates drop, families come together, and young people addicted to drugs set free.

“We also witness God perform amazing miracles: blind eyes opening, the lame walking, tumors disappearing, and hundreds delivered from demonic oppression. This city is going to be transformed by the power of the gospel.”

Morey said his ministry’s success is not about personal fame but about partnership with local church leaders who share a vision for revival and social transformation.

“We have partnered with passionate brothers and sisters here. Leaders who have worked tirelessly for two months preparing for this moment. They have set aside denominational differences to unite for one cause, the salvation and upliftment of Soroti.”

When asked about his message to Ugandans who are in election season, Morey emphasised the importance of servant leadership rooted in biblical wisdom and humility.

“The wisest leaders are those who are first submitted to God,” he said.

“They lead as servants seeking to lift people up, not the Lord over them. Jesus has called us to a life of righteousness, holiness, and sacrifice, where we consider others more important than ourselves."

Morey said he intends to expand his ministry’s Alight of the Nations (ALN) academy to Uganda to help equip pastors with sound biblical teaching and effective ministry tools.

He said he started the ALN academy in the US last year and will now extend its reach to Soroti to nurture a new generation of Christ-centred leaders.

“Our goal is to train pastors to be healthy, biblical, and effective. Even those who may have lost their way can be restored as the Spirit of God touches their hearts.”

'You will be blessed'

Local church leaders have described the crusade as a divine visitation that will bring spiritual renewal, healing, and unity to the region.

"Having Evangelist Dana Morey here is a blessing to all of us in Teso and in Uganda," said his host, Baptist Church bishop Sam Eibu.

“We believe God is about to reveal great things. Please come and be part of this crusade. You will be blessed, and you will never be the same again."

Eibu said the crusade will be accompanied by a leadership conference on October 10-11, where church leaders and believers will receive teachings aimed at strengthening their faith and ministry work.

The bishop also called upon Christians across the nation to unite in prayer and participation.

Local believers are hopeful that Morey’s mission will bring not only spiritual awakening, but also lasting peace and moral renewal to their communities.

“I am happy that he has come at the time we are celebrating our independence. It is going to be a special Independence Day celebration for me as a believer,” said Sarah Asero.
