In the recent Tusker Malt Conversessions episode, unveiled on the Tusker Malt YouTube channel on February 4, viewers have been treated to an intimate journey into the world of Afro-soul maestro Kenneth Mugabi.

He captivated the audience with an enchanting collection of his beloved tracks, skillfully blending his guitar and opened with the delightful Sanyu, followed by the emotionally charged Ebinyuma, and the soulful Nkwegomba.

Mugabi guided listeners through his discography, and the highlight unfolded when he delved into the profound stories behind his compositions, underscoring the potency of personal experiences that birthed musical masterpieces.

The revelation of the inspiration behind Naki is particularly riveting, as Mugabi candidly shared how the song emerged from his own embarrassing situations and childhood frustrations, channeling feelings of unwanted and rejected into this creation.

Beyond the melodies, Mugabi addressed comparisons to Maurice Kirya, revealing his early performances of Kirya's songs and the pivotal advice from Kirya during the Rated Next show.

This advice paved the way for Mugabi's album, Kibun'omu, in 2016, featuring the hit Naki. The artiste also discloses his methodical approach to song writing, immersing himself in understanding the characters he writes about, declaring himself a method writer.

"I want to be remembered as the person who sold Uganda to Ugandans," said Mugabi, emphasising his pride as a Musoga from Busoga. He shared insights into his personal life, acknowledging a serious long-term relationship and attributing its success to faith and divine protection.

Roy Tumwizere, Tusker Malt brand manager, lauded the episode as a masterpiece showcasing Mugabi's humility and a man who appreciates vulnerability, empathy, and the beauty of life.

As Valentine's Day approaches, Mugabi's love ballads offer the perfect soundtrack for expressing and celebrating deep emotions.

“This episode is such a masterpiece. A lot of work was put into it. Mugabi shows what it takes to craft musical gems. His ‘conversession’ has shown us his humility as well as a man who understands the beauty of vulnerability, empathy, and appreciation for life in general. We hope fans savour it over Tusker Malt Lager, a finely crafted beer,” said  Tumwizere.
