Why corporal punishment persists

In 2023, Uganda lost 11-year-old Dan Gasore, a pupil of Mutolere Primary School in Kisoro district, after he was hit with a stick on the head and back by a teacher. His crime? Failing homework. His family was left mourning a son they had sent to school to build a future.
