WEST NILE - As the Uganda Certificate of Examinations for Senior Four kicked off on Friday October 13, 2023, with briefing of candidates, students in West Nile expressed readiness.
Writing compulsory final examinations is Monday October 16, 2023, with Geography paper one.
According to the executive director Uganda National Examinations Board, Dan Odongo, 364,470 candidates registered to sit for this year’s UCE examinations, with 51% females and 49% males.
Meanwhile, the school headteachers have been warned against any tendencies of examination malpractices that have been reported in some schools in the past.
Ronald Ddungu, the Regional Desk Officer in charge of West Nile and Acholi sub regions from the Ministry of Education and Sports on Friday challenged the head teachers and candidates to adhere to the examination rules and regulations and avoid engaging in examination malpractice.
Jackline Lemanda Nyambogo, the headteacher of Ogenda Girls High School in Pakwach district, said unlike last year where there were many challenges including COVID-19 interruption, this year, they have adequately prepared for the final UNEB exams with over 80 percent syllabus coverage.
Likewise, Grace Adia, the headteacher Arivu Secondary school in Arua district said she was optimistic of good performance.
“This year, we have registered 54 candidate for UCE, and we are ready after preparing them well, actually for the last two weeks we have taken them through various seminars, and we have invited UNEB examiners to take them through the question approach and I am hopeful that the performance this year will be better,” Adia said.
The headteacher Francis Ayume Memorial Secondary School in Koboko district, Isaiah Muki, says they are looking forward to continuing with their good performance.
Sheikh Abdulmutwalib Kizza, the deputy headteacher Arua Islamic Secondary School, says the briefing instilled confidence in their candidates.
The headteacher of Bishop Angelo Tarantino Secondary School in Arua City, Robert Okello, says the school has registered the highest number of candidates this year.
