NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an expected turnover of over UGX 90.2 Billion (FY 2018/2019).

 

Now, New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Ltd is looking to recruit a dynamic and self motivated individuals to fill the positions of;

DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT OFFICER.

Position: DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT OFFICER.

Reports to: Senior Producer Digital.

Duty Station: Kampala.

Key Result Areas:

  • Identify, schedule and promote all content as per the segment schedule;
  • Write, edit and upload well angled, accurate, fair and balanced content aimed at engaging the audience to keep traffic figures high;
  • Repurpose and re-promote ever-green content;
  • Constantly monitor key social media pages and official WhatsApp groups for news tips and latest updates;
  • Engage with audience in comments;
  • Attend to user feedback on email and social media platforms and, if necessary, channel the queries to the suitable platforms/people.
  • Engage with digital teams and supervisors for story ideas and story development including writing and rewriting copy for digital promotion and engagement;
  • Engage with individual reporters and supervisors for story ideas and story development including writing and rewriting stories where needed.
  • Attend planning meetings and provide input into product development ideas and make follow ups on developing stories;
  • Promote Newspaper, E-paper and broadcast platform content online.
  • Peer review and proof-read own and fellow digital team’s work to eliminate typos/errors,
  • Coach and interact with members of the digital team on best practices in digital engagement.
  • Liaise with the Visuals hub to generate illustrations which best illustrate content.
  • Participate in integration and cross-promotion of content across Vision Group platforms
  • Submit daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly productivity reports.
  • Ensure the proper use of content on Vision Group network resources for future retrieval and use.Qualification and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/ Journalism/Literaturein English & English Language.
  • Content Marketing certificate.
  • 3 years’ relevant work experience 

    Technical Competences:
  • Extensive knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Social media communication.
  • Proficient in the English Language as well as other platform-relevant local language; both written and spoken,
  • Proficient in the use of relevant computer packages,
  • Excellent multimedia editing and design skills,

Position: ICT USER SUPPORT OFFICER.

Reports to: ICT Support Supervisor.

Duty Station: Kampala.

Key Result Areas:

  • Troubleshoot computer hardware, software and user related issues by establishing the root cause and then fixing the problem to ensure minimal disruption to work;
  • Carryout scheduled maintenance for hardware and software by evaluating the computer status to minimize system

breakdowns;

  • Install and deploy IT equipment with all the required software as per defined checklist to ensure that users have all the

necessary tools to work;

  • Train users in basic hardware and software use by identifying the ICT knowledge gaps to empower users to carry out their day to day activities;
  • Identify and assess user IT related needs and advise management so that they can make informed decisions on the user needs;
  • Attend to user service requests in a timely manner to ensure user satisfaction.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering.
  • ITIL Foundation certification will be an added advantage.
  • 2 years’ relevant work experience.

Technical Competences:

  • Good knowledge of servers, hardware, software, troubleshooting and networking.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and identify technical issues.

Position: PRODUCER NEWS & CURRENT AFFAIRS

Reports to: Senior Producer.

Duty Station: Kampala.

Key Result Areas:

  • Generate and produce multimedia news and current affairs

content for broadcast, digital, visual and print platforms to grow

and recruit audiences within set deadlines.

  • Ensure production of daily news that meets audience needs and

expectations by;

- Supervising, deploying and debriefing multimedia journalists

to ensure production of quality multimedia content that meets

Vision Group’s house-style and editorial policy,

- Monitoring multimedia journalists while in the field,

- Editing stories/ scripts submitted by multimedia journalists,

- Designing a docket or running order and submit for approval,

- Previewing footage and approving stories before they go on air,

- Briefing the news anchors on the items in the day`s bulletin,

- Coordinating live studio broadcasts,

- Anchoring the news when required,

- Liaising with sales, marketing and other content teams to flag/promote special offerings.

  • Manage performance of direct reports to ensure a highly productive team by;

- Identifying talent for the team,

- Carrying out performance appraisals for the team (Multimedia journalists, Anchors and Video Editors),

- Train, coach and motivate reporters for multimedia competency, high productivity, professionalism & efficiency.

  • Participate in integration and cross-promotion of news content across Vision Group platforms.
  • Monitor and manage section costs through proper budgeting and adherence to budget
  • Submit monthly, quarterly & annual section reports on achievements, operational challenges and projects in order to support improvement of the quality of the products and decision making.

Qualification and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in Journalism/Communication.
  • Masters in Journalism/Communication will be added advantage.
  • 3-5 years relevant working experience as a Print/Broadcast journalist.

Position: TECHNICAL OFFICER

Reports to: Technical Manager.

Duty Station: Mbarara.

Key Result Areas:

  • Operate and man the control room equipment to ensure quality signal by:

- Monitoring output for video and audio signal,

- Preparing for studio programs,

- Video switching and audio mixing,

- Creating and loading playlists according to the TV schedule and Commercial Traffic Schedule(CTS),

- Carrying out maintenance works on equipment to ensure they are operational,

- Troubleshooting and repairing equipment to minimize downtime in line with control room technical guidelines,

- Participating in the installation of control room and studio equipment,

- Liaising with the Aggregation manager and Programme controller on approved music content and fillers.

  • Deliver quality outside broadcasting by:

- Carrying out site surveys to ensure good signal strength,

- Installing production and transmission equipment,

- Operating the equipment and ensuring its safe handling.

  • Prepare daily reports for the Transmission manager.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering (preferably)/ Electrical Engineering,
  • 3 years relevant working experience in Electronic media.

Technical Competences:

  • Electrical Engineering,
  • Knowledge of programming, scheduling, and broadcast.
  • Good knowledge of broadcast equipment
  • Proficient in computer skills (IT Network, broadcast software and troubleshooting).

Position: PROGRAMMES CONTROLLER (4) (Bukedde TV 1 & 2, Urban and Wan Luo TV)

Reports to: Station Manager

Duty Station: Kampala

Description of purpose

Direct and coordinate activities and schediles and ensure delivery of broadcast content is in complaince with broadcast statutory standards

Key Result Areas:

  • Ensure all programming is in line with Editorial Policy and minimum regualtory standards;

- Acquire and schedule programming of content

- Liaise with producers to review and prep presenters before they go on air

- Ensure availability of all paid and in-house content scheduled to air as per the required timelines

- Monitor on a daily; air programming and participate in program reviews.

  • Ensure quality programming that attracts, maintains and increases the viewing audience;
  • Report weekly to the station manager on the perofrmance perspectives of the station (finance, customer , process and people)
  • Ensure adherence to program line up and liaise with schedulers for appropriate fillers.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Diploma in Mass Communication/Journalism/ any other relevant qualification
  • 3 years relevant working experience in a competitive broadcasting environment.

Technical Competences:

  • Competent broadcasting technology skills (cool edit, adobe audition, imediatouch, jazzler, RCS, news boss etc)
  • Knowledge of programming, scheduling, and broadcast.
  • Good knowledge of broadcast equipment
  • Hosting/on air delivery - added advantage
  • Fluent in English and one of the following languages; Luganda Runyakitara and Luo.
