UACE: Sheema schools commended for success in sciences

The Sheema District education department has hailed secondary school head teachers in the district for exhibiting good performance in science subjects in the recently released Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.
Government schools in the district like Ryakasinga Centre for Higher Education, St Charles Lwanga High Kashekuro and Kitagata Secondary School, performed well in science subjects.
Muzafaru Ssempa, the Sheema District inspector of schools, attributed the performance to the government's efforts in providing science kits to the schools and enhancing science teachers’ salaries.
At Ryakasinga Centre for Higher Education where Gilbert Tusiime emerged as the best in sciences with 18 points in PCM/ICT, Abel Rushegyera, the principal, attributed their good performance to students’ discipline and teachers’ efforts in completing the syllabus on time.
At St Charles Lwanga High SS Kashekuro where Eric Busingye got 18 points in BCM/ICT, head teacher Alex Mutungi noted the school’s good working relationship between teachers and school management committees and that the career guidance given to students has helped them excel.
Andrew Ariho and Dalton Muzahura, former students of Kitagata Secondary School, all got 18 points in PEM/ICT. Headteacher Elly Biryomumaisho said the government has provided the school with teachers and science kits which has helped students to perform well in science subjects.
Results for the 2023 UACE for a total of 110,569 students were released on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
