Vice-President Jessica Alupo has paid glowing tribute to Trinity College Nabbingo (TRICONA) for its enormous contribution to the development of Uganda through girl-child education.

“Empowering the girl-child is crucial for growth and sustainable development. When girls are empowered, they can contribute significantly to their communities and the country at large. To prepare our girls for this world, we must embrace innovation, not just in science and technology, but in thought, in teaching, and in courage. Trinity College Nabbingo’s commitment to this cause is commendable,” she said.

Alupo voiced her gratitude during the school’s 83rd anniversary function that was held at the school in Wakiso district on Friday, June 20, 2025. Her message was delivered by the minister for Kampala City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon. Minsa Kabanda, who represented her at the function.

Alupo later gave some interesting advice to the students.

“Dear students, ladies of substance, you are not only the leaders of tomorrow, you are the innovators of today. Let no one dim your light, let no voice silence your song. Let your imagination break the ceilings placed above you. For within you lies the power to change the world. One idea, one act at a time,” she said.

The function started with a Thanksgiving mass presided over by the Archbishop of Kampala, the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, who asked the family of Trinity College Nabbingo to live out the attributes of the Most Holy Trinity (the patron saint of the school).

“We want to see you as symbols of the Trinity. Let the image of the Trinity be reflected in your oneness, your love for one another, your exemplary life,” he said.

Ssemogerere expressed admiration for the calmness and tranquillity at TRICONA. He nonetheless implored the students to make discipline a culture of their entire lives.

“I enjoy the order, even the way we are sitting. I marvel at the discipline and smartness. In some schools I visit, students murmur like pigs. But here are 2,300 students, all calm and quiet. I pray that you carry your discipline even when you go away from here. Out there, it is a total mess. A boda-boda is allowed to carry only one passenger, but it carries four, even five. A driver is asked to keep left, but they go to the right! Please don’t get corrupted when you leave this school. Remain gentle and orderly,” Ssemogerere said.

The Prelate encouraged Christians to pray for the boy-child, so that the well-groomed girls can find “educated, disciplined and civilised gentlemen” to marry them.

The headteacher of TRICONA, Lady Immaculate Nassozi Lwanga, said the school was even more committed to the mission of producing all-rounded women who are morally upright, academically sound and physically capable of serving God and the country.

She thanked President Museveni for his goodwill and support for the school. She requested government to give more support to the school to enable it to expand its infrastructure and be able to accommodate more students. She mentioned, among others, the proposed 2,500-seater chapel (under construction) as one of the projects that require support.
