To tackle teenage pregnancy, Kaberamaido DEO urges holistic approach

As of 2019, adolescents aged 15–19 years in low- and middle-income countries had an estimated 21 million pregnancies each year, of which approximately 50% were unintended, according to the World Health Organization.

The 2019 data indicates that 55% of unintended pregnancies among teenage girls usually end in abortions, which are often unsafe in especially low- and middle-income countries.

The district education officer of Uganda's eastern district of Kaberamaido has urged schools and all stakeholders to each play a role in tackling issues related to teenage pregnancy.
