Teachers urged to consider special needs students

MBARARA - Teachers who are upgrading have been urged to enrol for special needs courses and to always give special attention to learners with special needs. 

Speaking to teachers on October 5, 2022, officer in charge of special needs education for Mbarara district Abel Muhinduza also encouraged schools to always budget for special needs education programmes.

Muhinduza was speaking to headteachers and teachers from different schools in Mbarara who had joined the rest of the World to commemorate World Teachers Day.

Mbarara city UNATU chairperson Naboth Mugume said the day was celebrated under the theme: The Transformation of Education Begins With Teachers.

Muhinduza also appealed to UNATU leadership across the country in their programming and budgeting to provide funds to support orientation programmes for teachers of special needs learners.

The function was also attended by Mbarara district education officer Gabriel Ahimbisibwe, who also emphasised the need to take inclusive education.
