Surveyors donate mattresses, beddings to CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital

Ugandan surveyors under their umbrella body; the Institution of Surveyors of Uganda (ISU) have donated an assortment of items to CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital in Kisubi, Wakiso district.

These included; 16 mattresses, blankets, bedsheets and drinks. The group was led by ISU president Aloysius Gonza, Immediate Past President Dr Nathan Kabwami and the governing council.

ISU brings together over 2,200 professionals in valuation, land surveying, quantity surveying, mining and hydrological surveying in Uganda.

The visit which happened last week was in commemoration of Global Surveyor’s Day which falls on March 21. The group was welcomed by the hospital leadership led by Robert Ocha, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He applauded the surveyors for their generosity and said that donations came in handy for the patients.

CoRSU was established in 2009 as a private, non-profit, non-governmental organization and it mitigates the debilitating effects of disabling physical conditions, by ensuring accessibility and availability of quality, preventative, curative, and rehabilitative services for people with disability in Uganda and neighbouring countries.

Meanwhile, after the donation, the surveyors held their eighth pre-annual general meeting and conference at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe. The event was officiated by Hon. Nobert Mao, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

It was also attended by the chief government valuer, commissioner of quantity surveying, members from the surveyors’ registration board and presidents from the Institution of Surveyors Kenya and Rwanda Institute of Quantity plus Rwanda Organization of Land Surveyors among others.

Mao thanked the organizing committee for selecting the theme; Managing and resolving disputes in the Land, Water and Built Environment, the Surveyors’ role.  

He also appreciated the continued role surveyors play in the land and built environment saying they are crucial to the sustainable development of this country.

“NRM government has provided a platform in ensuring that professionals such as surveyors are able to practice this noble profession in a conducive political, social and economic environment,” he says.

“I have seen the survey profession grow in numbers which clearly shows a build-up of capacity and relevance,” he added.
