When rapper Keko returned to Uganda from Canada after more than five years, the one artiste who constantly featured in her Q&A sessions was singer Sheebah Karungi with whom she was close, until the time she left. 

Upon her return in 2023, Keko picked up from where she left off, suggesting rekindling friendship with the John Rambo singer and perhaps getting to record music together.
 
Sheebah has since broken her silence. She said as much as she has a public relations team that scours social and mainstream media for conversations about her just to be sure how different industry players feel about her brand, they never shared with her anything about Keko’s pleasant remarks. 

“I did not know,” reacted Sheebah on being told by her colleague, singer Crysto Panda, about it.

“My people know I am out of touch with things going on here so they send me stuff to know who is on my side and who is not. I want to know who is my friend and who is not,” she continued. 

About Keko’s suggestion of putting their differences aside and getting to work together, Sheebah, however, showed no interest. 

“Don’t you think that is her job to do? I think it goes back deep and nobody else can understand apart from her,” said Sheebah. 

In 2016, it was alleged  that Keko had vowed to beat up Sheebah. However, speaking to The Kampala Sun in 2017, she denied the allegations, saying she wished her the best despite feeling her rise to fame was not as organic. 

“She is a promotional kind of artiste. She met a marketing pay-per-play kind of manager and there she is. But at the end of the day; we are not friends,” Keko said.

She said her issues with Sheebah stemmed from claims that she was beating her up and stories being written about it in the media, but she never made the effort to clear her name.
