At least 1,797 students drawn from six secondary schools in Oyam district have undergone patriotism training.

The students from Amwa Comprehensive Secondary School, Dr Oryang Secondary School, Minakulu Secondary School, Marolett Secondary School, Ngai Secondary School, and Acaba Technical School.

Tom Obong, the Coordinator in charge of Patriotism Clubs in Oyam District, said the training is aimed at fostering discipline and ending strikes in schools.

According to Obong, more than 3,000 students have so far received patriotism training in Oyam district alone within six months.

While presiding over the commissioning of the patriotism students yesterday, Col David Operro, the deputy 5th Division Commander of Acol Pii Army Baracks, warned the patriots to stay away from bad peer groups.

He rallied the patriots to take a bold step in environmental conservation and be law-abiding.
