At least 1,431 students are set to graduate during Gulu University's 21st graduation ceremony on Friday, November 28, 2025.
The latest figure is a decline from the 1,569 (663 females and 906 males) graduands during the university's 20th graduation ceremony early this year, which had represented a 16% increase from the previous year.
University academic registrar Dr Jerry Bagaya says the graduation will comprise 908 male and 523 female graduands.
He added that 74 students will be awarded Master’s degrees across various faculties and institutes.
The Faculty of Law is among those with the largest number of graduates this year, presenting 101 graduands, followed by the Faculty of Education and Humanities, which has 114, according to records obtained from the university.
Vice-chancellor Prof. George Ladaah Openjuru on Wednesday said the number of PhD graduands has been steadily increasing, from three in the 19th graduation in 2023, to four in 2024, and now to five at the 21st graduation in 2025.
This second graduation ceremony, being held by Gulu University this year, was originally scheduled for early next year, but it has been brought forward to avoid coinciding with the 2026 General Election.
Meanwhile, university secretary David Obol Otori said the university has continued to expand and now has over 7,000 students enrolled.
