Delivering her speech during the function, the Headteacher of Mount St. Mary’s College Namagunga, Rev. Sr. Regina Nabawanuka, said the number of students, which currently stands at 1250, had sharply exceeded he capacity of the existing infrastructure and hence the need for the proposed building.
She said the new complex will have various facilities, such as classrooms, a staff room, a library and computer laboratories.
The building will ultimately help the school managers to accommodate and conveniently give quality education to the growing number of students without compromising quality and dignity.
She encouraged the stakeholders to support the propjet with great determination and hope, just like the school’s founder, Mother Mary Kevin Kearney (Order of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa), who came with literally nothing, but owing to her deep faith and commitment to the education of the girl-child, managed to put up the school which is now very prominent, and whose alumni are wonderfully placed not only in Uganda but elsewhere in the world.
