St Lawrence started their road to their consecutive fifth title National Beach Soccer League on good note.

They thrashed Grace Church 12-3 in the match day one on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre,Njeru in Buikwe district. Nigerian Isaac Ishioke notched five while other goals from Ronald Magwali, Rica Byaruhanga, Baker Lukooya, Sharif Lubega, Emmanuel Wasswa, George Kaddu and an own goal from Steven Kitumba saw St Lawrence walk away with a comfortable victory.

Grace Church responded through Derrick Kato and Kenneth Mugabi and an own goal from goalkeeper Sulaiman Ssentongo. 

St Lawrence who have dominated the league winning the last four seasons, are seeking to win their fifth title.

They will face stiff competition from former champions Mutoola and Buganda Royal among others.

Elsewhere, Mutoola defeated Wolves 5-4. Simon Peter Kijjo scored a hattrick for Mutoola before Paul Nsenge and Musa Ssali added the other goals for them. Farouk Kawuma’s hattrick and another from Muhamoud Ssozzi was not enough for Wolves.

There are 10 teams competing in this season's league and they include;St Lawrence, Grace Church, Kampala City, Wolves, Mutoola, Kiringente, Buganda Royal, KJT, Mengo Hills, MS Sand Lions.

In another game, Yusuf Joloba notched a hattrick while Abbey Kavuma and Emmanuel Matovu added a brace each as MS Sand Lions beat Mengo Hill 9-0. Rogers Zikulibya and Yinusa added the other goals for MS Sand Lions. Kampala City thumped Grace Church 13-1. Paul Lule scored seven times before Douglas Muganga added a brace. Shaka Ssozi, Herbert Onyango, Swaibu Kakwaya, Ronald Ssekimpi were also on the scoresheet for Kampala City. Allan Isabirye scored Grace Church’s consolation.
