GAYANZA - Gayaza High School has hosted a special mass to fundraise for the expansion of its chapel.

The event earlier today, March 21, was graced by Rev. Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu, who emphasised the need for a bigger and more inclusive worship space for the school's over 2,000 students.

"The space is no longer enough, and girls don't have room to exercise their spiritual growth," Kaziimba said, urging the community and the country at large to support the fundraising effort.

Headteacher Robinah Katongole Kizito explained that the current chapel, built in 1965, has been serving the school for nearly six decades but is now inadequate. Due to the limited space, the school has been forced to hold three masses every Sunday.

“The fundraising aims to expand the school's chapel, which has nurtured faith across generations from the 1940s to date,” Kizito said, highlighting the chapel's significance in the school's history.

The expansion project seeks to create a more spacious and inclusive worship area, catering to the growing student population and supporting their spiritual development.
