KAMPALA - The State Minister for Primary Education, Joyce Kaducu, has revealed that the completion rate of lower education is still low, putting the education sector at stake.

Speaking at the commemoration of World Teachers’ Day on Friday (October 7) at Hotel Africana, Kaducu noted that on average, the completion rate of lower education all over the country is 30%.

“In every 10 pupils that go for primary education, 3 drop out, meaning only 7 of them completely according to the research we made at the ministry,” she commented.

She explained that the drop is partly caused by several issues such as poverty, domestic violence, and the unfavorable environment both at school and home, among others.

The commemoration of World Teachers day was organized by Raising Voices, a non-governmental organisation that advocates for children and women rights in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports

The commemoration was officially celebrated on October 5.
