KAMPALA - The race for the top academic crown in the Vision Group-initiated Ultimate University Quiz Season Three intensifies this weekend as the competition enters another round of quarterfinal matches featuring four strong contenders.
On Saturday, November 15, 2025, Busitema University will face ISBAT University, while on Sunday, Ndejje University will clash with Soroti University.
The winners from these fixtures will secure their places in the semi-finals, joining Gulu University and Uganda Christian University (UCU), who already advanced from last weekend’s games.
According to Max Adii, the project lead of the Ultimate University Quiz, the quarterfinals are expected to deliver some of the most competitive and exciting contests of the season.
“This week on Saturday, we have Busitema University taking on ISBAT University. Busitema is a big team, and ISBAT has also proved to be a very tough team this season.” Adii said.
He recalled ISBAT’s impressive performance in the previous rounds, where they beat Uganda Martyrs University by a significant margin.
“We look forward to that big game,” he said. “It will be such a wonderful one to watch, and we wait to see what Isbat will be having against Busitema.”
Ndejje takes on Soroti University
The Sunday matchup will see Ndejje University battling Soroti University, another much-anticipated game between two science-focused institutions.
Adii noted that Soroti has been a consistent force since the first season of the quiz, while Ndejje, despite being a newcomer, has demonstrated remarkable strength.
“Soroti University is a science university and has been a big team in the quiz from season one to this third season,” he explained, adding, “But it’s meeting another big team, Ndejje University, which has been winning all its games this season. They joined this year but have proved to be such a very, very tough team.”
He added that both universities are strong in science and general knowledge, which promises a well-balanced intellectual contest.
“We expect such wonderful games for this weekend,” Adii said.
“The winners will automatically move into the semi-finals, where they will play Gulu University and Uganda Christian University.”
Gulu University, the reigning champion of Season Two, remains one of the teams to beat as it aims to defend its title in this year’s edition.
The Ultimate University Quiz, now in its third season, continues to showcase the academic brilliance, teamwork, and quick thinking of university students across Uganda.
The competition airs live at 7:30pm on Bukedde TV 1 & 2, TV West, and Wan Luo TV.
