As the third term commences for students nationwide, those residing in Kikoni, a suburb of Uganda's capital city, Kampala, have been fortunate to receive essential educational materials to facilitate their studies.
These scholastic supplies, comprising numerous exercise books, geometry sets, pens, pencils, and more, were generously provided by the Allan Children’s Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) actively operating in the Wakiso district. Over 100 children from vulnerable backgrounds were beneficiaries of this valuable support.
Mr. Allan Kato, the Executive Director of Allan Children’s Foundation, highlighted the financial struggles faced by many parents, exacerbated by the lockdown measures, which have yet to see a full recovery. He expressed the organization's commitment to assisting children in accessing quality education.
Both parents and students expressed their gratitude to Mr. Allan Kato and the Allan Children’s Foundation for their dedicated efforts in promoting education among vulnerable families. “We are glad that through Allan Children’s Foundation has been able to sponsor our children back to school, things have been hard on our side, but we appreciate him (Allan Kato) for extending this support to us through his foundation”.
Established in 2019 by Allan Kato, the foundation has emerged as a beacon of hope for Uganda's most marginalized children. Startling statistics reveal a distressing reality, with over 200,000 children under the age of 14 suffering from hunger, and nearly one million orphaned due to starvation. Faced with this dire crisis, the Allan Children’s Foundation has stepped in, extending a lifeline to more than 55 displaced children in the suburbs of Nansana in Wakiso District. Their comprehensive support encompasses not only education but also shelter, medical care, and, significantly, a nurturing and caring environment.
