Tributes have poured in for Rev. Msgr Expedito Magembe, a beloved Catholic Charismatic preacher and exorcist, who passed away at Nsambya Hospital last Friday.
Magembe's admirers offered heartfelt praise during a solemn requiem mass held in his memory at Mount Sion Prayer Centre, Kakiri Town Council, in Wakiso district, on Sunday (May 11).
His body arrived at the prayer centre at noon, with the requiem mass beginning at 1 pm. It was presided over by the Episcopal Vicar of the Kampala Archdiocese Vicariate of Wakiso, Fr Jude Makanga, who commended Magembe for his powerful and transformative ministry.
“Msgr Magembe used well the Charismatic gifts that God gave him. He has preached the Gospel with great zeal and conviction. As a preacher and sacred music composer, he has drawn many people to Christ. He has healed many people physically and spiritually. He has also restored hope in many people.”
The open-air mass was attended by hundreds, who remained in place even as a heavy downpour struck.
The mass was marked by emotional scenes. Loud wailing filled the square as Magembe’s casket was rolled in during a solemn procession led by religious Sisters of the congregation of the Brides of the Lamb, whom Magembe founded, together with members of the Msgr Magembe Foundation, a charity formed by beneficiaries of his generosity.
Tears streamed down mourners’ faces as the Cherubim Chamber Chorale performed Magembe’s hymns during the mass and the wreath-laying ceremony.
Eulogies
Those who paid tribute with moving eulogies included Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo, Brigadier General John Baptist Mulindwa, and several others.
Msgr Magembe will be laid to rest at Kisubi Minor Seminary tomorrow (Monday).
The funeral mass will begin at 11am.
Bribes of the lamb sister pay their last respects to MSGR Expedito Magembe.
